Pizzuti Earns NAIOP Central Ohio Awards

The Central Ohio Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, recognized three Pizzuti Columbus-area projects Nov. 11 during its annual Awards Gala at the Hilton Easton.

A new build-to-suit headquarters and operations center developed for Accel Inc., located at 9000 Smith’s Mill Road in the Personal Care and Beauty Campus at the New Albany Business Park, earned first-place marks for Best Industrial Project – Large Scale (200,000 square feet or larger). The $18 million, 417,049-square-foot facility, designed by Glavan Feher Architects with a goal of earning LEED Silver certification, was completed in June. Pizzuti Construction Services served as the project’s general contractor.

Another Personal Care and Beauty Campus project, a $6 million, 110,250-square-foot bottle manufacturing facility being built for Axium Plastics at 9005 Smith’s Mill Road, earned the first-place award for Best Industrial Project – Small Scale (0 to 199,999 square feet). The project, currently under construction on a 12.14-acre site, is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2012. Glavan Feher Architects designed the new facility.

A $6.2 million, 125,000-square-foot build-to-suite distribution facility for the Meadowbrook Meat Company (MBM), currently under construction at 2240 Creekside Parkway in the CreekSide Industrial Center, was named runner-up in the Best Industrial Project – Small Scale category. A first-quarter 2012 completion date is expected for the facility, designed by Glavan Feher Architects and being built by Pizzuti Construction Services.

“We’re extremely pleased that several of our recent Central Ohio projects have been recognized for excellence,” said Joel S. Pizzuti, president of The Pizzuti Companies. “NAIOP has long been an advocate for the real estate industry, which makes these awards especially satisfying.”
