Pizzuti Renovates Historic Carlile Building

An iconic North High Street building that housed a well-known Columbus furniture retailer for nearly 100 years has undergone a complete interior renovation.

The Pizzuti Companies, owner of the Carlile Building at 445 N. High Street, recently completed the renovation, which includes a full re-work of the lobby, updated mechanical systems, restoration of the 1890s-era brick and plaster, and new restrooms on each floor.

Joel S. Pizzuti, president of The Pizzuti Companies, said the recent renovation is a key component to revitalizing one of North High Street’s most recognizable, historic buildings.

“The renovation of the Carlile Building has resulted in a one-of-a-kind office property,” he said. “The new-look Carlile, with exposed brick and steel beams, offers a unique office setting in one of the city’s most vibrant, attractive areas.”

JackThreads, an online retailer offering men’s fashion brands, has taken the fifth floor of the Carlile, which is located across from the Greater Columbus Convention Center and adjacent to the North Market. JackThreads, a division of Thrillist Media Group, occupies approximately 6,000 square feet of space.

Wondersauce, a New York-based digital agency, will move into approximately 2,000 square feet on the Carlile Building’s fourth floor. Wondersauce will take occupancy this spring, following completion of interior renovation of its space.

Martini Modern Italian restaurant remains a first-floor anchor tenant.

The Carlile Building was constructed in the late 1800s as home to Carlile’s Furniture, which closed in the mid-1970s after 97 years in business. Subsequent building uses included a health and fitness club prior to Pizzuti’s initial remodeling of the building in 1996.

Approximately 17,000 square feet remains available for lease the building’s second, third and fourth floors.
