Short North mixed-use plan moves forward

Pre-leasing activities are now underway for The Pizzuti Companies’ mixed-use development planned for the corner of North High Street and West First Avenue. The project, featuring a mix of commercial, office and residential uses, recently received approval from the Victorian Village Commission.

A new four-story office/retail building with approximately 45,000 square feet of Class A office space, 12,000 square feet of retail space and a combination of surface and below-grade parking will be constructed at 873 N. High St.; a new six-story building with 110-120 residential units and a 122-space parking structure will be built directly to the west at 40 W. First Ave.

“The mix of first-class office space, luxury apartments and a combination of top national and local retailers will make the new development at First Avenue and High Street a premier place to live and work in Columbus. Its location, in the heart of the Short North Arts District, is second-to-none and will further enhance the neighborhood’s reputation as a leading destination in the Midwest,” said Joel S. Pizzuti, president of The Pizzuti Companies. “We truly appreciate the thoughtful feedback from the Victorian Village Commission, the City of Columbus and our future neighbors as we’ve worked through this process.”

Pre-leasing discussions with potential tenants are in progress, with groundbreaking planned for late this year.

The Grandview Mercantile will relocate this fall to a soon-to-be-announced site in advance of the redevelopment of the North High Street parcel.
