The Pizzuti Companies was selected to develop a new multi-building corporate campus for Whirlpool Corporation in downtown Benton Harbor, Michigan. Pizzuti’s team created a campus that seamlessly fits into a small community, while also creating a collaborative work environment for Whirlpool and their associates.
The newly built campus, comprised of three buildings totaling 240,000 square feet, was a key component in Whirlpool’s plan to consolidate 15 owned and leased facilities, located throughout the greater Benton Harbor and Saint Joseph area, into three centralized office buildings.
The project, developed in multiple phases over four-plus years, allows Whirlpool to deliver on improvements in productivity, operations, energy efficiency, and overall employee experience. The first phase of the project, completed in 2012, was awarded LEED Platinum status.
Pizzuti’s work also includes planning the site for future expansion and the phased renovation of Whirlpool’s existing Benton Harbor-area office space.
The Benton Harbor World Headquarters is just one of nearly 15 Whirlpool projects completed by Pizzuti. Since 2000, the companies have jointly developed over seven million square feet of industrial and office facilities throughout the country. Other projects include a 1.6-million-square-foot Regional Distribution Center in Columbus, Ohio, a 800,000-square-foot Factory Distribution center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as a new development of their three-building corporate office campus in downtown Benton Harbor, Michigan.
